There is a "coming to the light" by the night.
A couple years ago I did a firefly piece entitled "Sent Out". They were mostly congregated around each other and a beautiful place of light and life and provision. They were just beginning to go outward into the darkness, carrying light with them. This painting is sort of a continuation of that. The fireflies are still being sent out, but there is a "coming to the light" in a new bigger way.

A self-taught artist who was born and raised in Northern Michigan, she now resides in Knoxville, Tennessee. Living amid mountains and rivers allows her easy access to hike, bike, and kayak, which are also favorite pastimes. Nature and spiritual elements are frequent elements in her work and there is typically a story that accompanies each piece in the process of its completion. Movement, light and color are all constantly displayed with brilliance as a common theme. She believes that a painting is like life, a journey and layered with meaning and therefor, many thin, near transparent layers are a well used technique.
